Food is a very important part in Argentina's culture. In Argentina the food is a mixture of two countries, which are Italy and Spain. The taste of food from Europe is here in Argentina, because many mestizos were raised making that food. Argentina usually uses meat and vegetable to make their food. Argentina consumes 70 kg of beef annually, which is more that we recently eat in the United States. "Asado" (barbecue in Argentina) is the traditional dish in Argentina. Asado is all kinds of meats cooked on fire. Argentina is very recognize for their asados, red meat cooked on fire can be very delicious.
"Dulce de leche" (milk candy, sweet milk) is popular candy in Argentina, many people eat it as a very good snack. Many snacks in Argentina have dulce de leche on them, like the ice cream, there is also pies of dulce de leche between many more. "Dulce de leche" is very easy snack to make, it was made by Juan Lavalle in 1829. In order to make dulce de leche you have to heat milk in a tray, then put some sugar depending your taste. To give the candy a sweeties taste you put vanilla on tray, finally you mix everything with a spoon and wait until it gets sticky. "Empanadas" are very popular in Argentina, and around the world. "Empanadas" is like little sandwich of cooked bread full of many ingredients like fruit, meat, fish and sometimes vegetables. There has been sayings that empanadas from Argentina have a really good taste. "Empanadas" originated in Galicia, a little place located in Spain, on 1520. In the southern region of the United States, empanadas are usually sweet, they are full of fruit or cajeta(caramel). But in Argentina almost all of them are full of meat/beef or fish. They are usually eat at many parties, but in some countries empanadas from Argentina can be real expensive. |
